How capture works
Headline question: How do we know the agent actually reported?
Proofroom rooms carry a capture grade. The grade is not a quality score — it states the capture mechanism so buyers know what receipts can and cannot prove.
| Grade | Mechanism | Arrow meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Watched | Agent reports itself (instructed / best-effort) | Dashed — chosen, silence degrades the room |
| Instrumented | SDK middleware wraps tool execution; receipts are a side effect | Solid through SDK — automatic |
| Gated | Receipt acknowledged (require_ack) before the action proceeds |
Receipt-before-action |
Primary SDK form is runtime middleware, not a callable the model must remember. See also Observe vs Assurance for delivery durability.
Every public room shows its capture grade next to trust signals.
